EDGE WATER Beach Hotel Location
Nea Chora Beach
Nea Chora, translating to “new town,” represents the earliest modern expansion of Chania, established outside the Venetian fortification walls in the early 18th century. This area is often regarded as the oldest segment of contemporary Chania.
The neighborhood features a fishing harbor and a sandy beach that is favored by locals, effectively serving as Chania’s town beach. The beach is well-regarded for its quality and accessibility.
Along the coastal road that runs adjacent to the beach, visitors will find a variety of cafés and primarily fish restaurants, as well as a few hotels. Although Nea Chora is not widely recognized among tourists, it offers a compelling alternative to accommodations in the old town.
Here, guests enjoy the convenience of having a beach nearby, available parking, some of the finest fish dining options in the city, and proximity to the Venetian harbor and Old Town—just a ten-minute walk along the scenic seafront.
